Haiti - Economy : First business mission initiated by a Haitian Consulate

Last December, Laurent Lamothe, the Haitian Minister of Foreign Affairs had defined its vision of the new business diplomacy "...the strategy 'Haiti is Open for Business' is a strategy that aims to change the diplomacy, from a traditional diplomacy to a business diplomacy" had declared the Chancellor Lamothe who confirmed that a circular letter was sent to all embassies and consulates to ask them to come with at least business missions per year in Haiti.

The first result of this new strategy, comes to be realized with the first business mission initiated by the Consulate General of Haiti in Miami earlier this week. The delegation led by the Chamber of Commerce Haitian-American from Florida (HACCOF) and a group, representing the investment interests from Thailand, went earlier this week in Haiti.

The delegation composed of Consul General of Haiti in Miami Designated, Mr. François Guillaume II, of Pierre Saliba, President of the HACCOF, of Jeff Lozama, Member of Council of the HACCOF, of Ms. Kanya Amorntheerakul, Director of the Thai Trade Center and Mr. Pheeraphat Phatraprasit, Officer of International Trade of the Thai Trade Center, visited several commercial and investment sites of interest in the capital, North and South of Haiti.

It remains only to the 41 other consulates and embassies of Haiti around the world, to follow this example, to make this new approach a real engine of economic development in our country.
