The Môlois live in a strategic area overlooking the Canal du Vent, with a spectacular semi-arid landscape.The Molise identity is that of a people of the sea, resistant and proud of its historical heritage, including the ruins of impressive fortifications such as Fort Vallière.

Due to the relative isolation of the commune, the people of Môlois have developed a great deal of autonomy and a strong sense of community.Fishing is the main activity, and Mole Bay is considered one of the safest in the Caribbean.

The name "Môlois" thus evokes a sentinel population, guardian of the historic gateway to Haiti and a territory of wild and preserved beauty."
