Haiti - Reconstruction : Socio-Economic Summit 2012 in Atlanta

The 2012 Socio Economic Summit’s (HDSS), overriding aim is to gather concerned Haitians in the Diaspora, to create a platform to come together to work on specific projects for the development and progress of Haiti. The Summit will also broaden the scope of interaction between Haitians and help realize their common interests as people, as Haitians, as a nation for Haiti. The 2012 Socio Economic Summit is the first edition that will steadily encourage Haitians living abroad to participate and contribute to improving the state of Haiti thru viable socioeconomic projects.

Equipped with an excellent team of Professionals and Leaders as the organizing executive committee, the Summit has all the key ingredients for an astounding success in Atlanta, Georgia. The Summit will be held on Avril 21, 2012 at the GEORGIA WORLD CONGRESS CENTER from 8:30am to 6:00pm.

The Summit’s goals are to:

  • Present the “Dlo Pwop” project and to exchange ideas and information relating to that particular project to Haitian leaders, professionals, businessmen, media, students... in the Diaspora.

The primary goal of this project is to provide the people in the region of Hinche and surrounding areas with an ample source of clean water whereby decreasing the risks of falling victim to many waterborne diseases. Ayiti Demain has contacted Sunspring Innovative Water Systems, a reputable company to assist us in transforming our idea into a reality. Sunspring Innovative Water System has been on the ground in Haiti since the devastating earthquake of January 12, 2010. They have already installed over 30 units of their system in different locations in Haiti. The Sunspring Innovative Water System is reliable and capable of delivering 5,000 to 10,000, and more in some cases, gallons of clean water per day. The water delivery will be based on the available source of water in the desired location.

  • To create a leading educational, socioeconomic networking resource Center among Haitians living in the Diaspora. The HAITIAN LIVING ABROAD RESOURCE CENTER (HLARC) will be a networking tool and a reference point for Haitians living abroad and friends. It will provide advice and information on education, healthcare, businesses, career options and opportunities. It will assist, inform support and encourage Haitians in the Diaspora to be self-directed. For now, our goal is to extend a center in each State of America starting with Georgia.
