The United Nations Security Council, with 15 members, ends its mission [which began Monday], this Thursday, February 16, 2012. The mission objectives were, among others: to assess the political, economic and humanitarian situation in Haiti, the level of security in the country and check with the Presidency of the Republic the implementation of relevant resolutions of the mandate of the UN Mission for Stabilization in Haiti (Minustah).

During his meeting with the representation of the United Nations Security Council the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by several members of the Executive, has assured to the members of the Security Council, that to ensure security in Haiti, it was necessary to create an armed force parallely to the strengthening of the Haitian National Police to gradually replace the security forces of the United Nations. That way we can ensure the security of our country when the Minsutah forces will leave Haiti and fill the lack of security that this will lead."

On the other hand, the President Martelly requested the removal of the reference that exists in the resolution of the mandate of the Minustah in Haiti, which states : The situation in Haiti remains a threat against peace and security in the region, despite the progress made ​​so far. The Ambassador Hardeep Puri Singh, Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations promised to the President Martelly to remove this reference, at the occasion of renewal of the mandate of the Minsutah in October 2012.

The President Martelly and members of the Government have also presented to the Security Council, the policy package that the administration Martelly-Conille is being developed in various fields, such as free education, resettlement of affected people of 12 January 2010, the National Programme to Fight against Hunger and Malnutrition, "Aba Grangou" which aims to reduce by 50% famine in Haiti by 2016 and to eradicate it by 2025, and measures to strengthen the rule of law, such as the renewal of the Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure and the recent appointments in the Supreme Court.

For his part, Ambassador of Morocco, country that maintain excellent relations with Haiti, said he was pleased to see the optimism that the Administration Martelly-Conille transmits and the expression of the will to change the country and its image in the world.
