Haiti - Economy : A promising partnership between CCIH and JCI Haiti

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Haiti (CHIC) represented by its President Hervé Denis and the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Haiti, represented by its National President John Walter Destiné, have signed a memorandum of understanding Friday, March 9 2012 in the presence of a hundred members of JCI Haiti, at a ceremony held at the Hotel Montana.

During the official visit of 72 hours in Haiti, of Mr. Bertolt Daems, World President of the Junior Chamber International, the national office of JCI Haiti took the opportunity to ask very concrete actions, including the signing of the MoU with the CCIH. This event took place at the Hotel Montana Friday, March 9 in the presence of a hundred of Jaycees and representatives of Office 1, DEKA Group and Stratégie Communication.

Through this protocol, the CCIH is committed to enhance, promote the youth participation in the development of commercial, industrial and service sectors. The two institutions agree to carry out specific projects including on the young entrepreneurship for a more dynamic business sector in Haiti while contributing to a strong involvement of youth in this sector. The Junior Chamber International Haiti (JCIHT) is committed to invest in the implementation of development programs directed towards young people of rural and urban areas of the country so that young people are positioned in the heart of the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Haiti.

According to Hervé Denis, President of CCIH, the taking into account of the desiderata of Haitian youth has always been one of his concerns but primarily the concern of the institution he now heads, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Haiti. Indeed, this Memorandum of Understanding between the two civic institutions, will enable young people, communities, the country in general, to enjoy the fruits of a partnership that seeks only the well-being.

For his part, John Walter Destiné the National President of JCI Haiti, who made a plea for young entrepreneurs citizens, trained and hired, applauded the initiative of both hands and spoke in these terms: "By working with JCI Haiti, you accompany Haitian youth to make the enriching experience of the social responsibility and of the civic engagement volunteer among other [...] The MoU will allow to make, among other things, the promotion of the participation of youth in the development of country, particularly in the field of entrepreneurship."

Having for mission to provide development opportunities for youth by giving them the ability to create positive change, the Junior Chamber International, is a movement of young active citizens ages between 18 to 40 years. This association is present in 117 countries, including Haiti. His vision is to be the leading global network of young active citizens.
