The U.S. State Department, through its program "International Women of Courage", recognized at an international level, the initiatives and actions undertaken by women around the world that play a large role in shaping the course of the history of their society.

The Award "Woman of Courage of Haiti 2012" was awarded this year, to Ms. Marie Yolène Gilles-Colas, Programs manager and Spokesperson of the National Network of Defenses of Human Rights (RNDDH), for its commitment and contribution in the promotion and the respect of human rights.

Woman committed for over 20 years in the rights of women victims of violence of all kinds, known for its interventions on the radio where, constantly she denounces the abuses, the illegal arrests or demand justice for victims of political regimes, she was by turns Reporter to "Radio Cacique," Editor to Haiti Info, before joining the RNDDH led by Pierre Espérance.
