Haiti - Politic : D-1 before the ratification vote of the Prime Minister-designate

Tomorrow Tuesday, unless unforeseen circumstances, the ratification of the Prime Minister-designate, Laurent Lamothe will be submitted to the vote of the Plenary Assembly of Senate. Although the report of the Senate Commission, responsible for analyzing the documents of the Prime Minister-designate, Laurent Lamothe, is favorable according to the Senator Hyppolite Mélius, a member of the Commission, 3 senators on 7, did not sign the report, they are the Senators : Jean Francky Exius, Jean Baptiste Bien-Aimé and Jean William Jeanty.

Last Thursday the Prime Minister-designate, who met the Coordination of INITE, asked if INITE intends to participate with him to the government, what the Coordination answered "that it was not there yet" The Senator Joseph Lambert had informed Saturday on this subject "We can not in any way, at the level of the board, eclare and accept the idea that we will join the new government without having the points of view of all senators, all deputies, because, ultimately, it is them who will vote [...]" This consultation will take place Tuesday morning before the session in Assembly which will have to take a position and finally decide on the ratification of Mr. Laurent Lamothe.

Concerning the holding of this ratification meeting, the Senator Lambert explained "[...] this session, according to the rules, standards and procedures, must necessarily take place Tuesday, in fact it is a day of regular session, normally the Assembly will have to pronounce. The conclusions and recommendations of this Commission are clearly in favor of Laurent Lamothe [...] it's true that the report is favorable, but it is also true that the vote that will take place in the Assembly, will be a vote political and technical because, in any political assembly, the votes are generally political [...]

Mr. Laurent Lamothe continues to campaign like a good tennis player and it is also true that us, at the level of our platform we have to sit quietly, reflect on the position to be taken as a senator belonging to a political group, a political platform and ultimately, the board will give us clear instructions regarding the position or the vote that we will have to cast during this session [...]"

Several sources suggest that despite the statements made by parties that there would be no haggling... it would seem that the obtaining of votes in favor of the ratification of Prime Minister would have been conditioned to the withdrawal of some Ministers resigned to allow the representation of political parties within the framework of a Government of openness...
