On the occasion of the 12th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, which takes place from April 23 to 25, the humanist Sean Penn, Goodwill Ambassador for Haiti, responsible of the Organization J/P HRO will receive today to Chicago the 2012 Peace Summit Award.

On this occasion, Sean Penn will be honored for his continuous efforts of charity in Haiti, his work of reconstruction, his assistance to victims of the earthquake of January 12, 2010, and for his continued advocacy for peace and protection of human rights throughout the world.

"I am very pleased to receive this honor. I dedicate it to the youth of Haiti, women in Haiti and around the world," the actor Penn, considering this award as a "extraordinary honor".

Penn arrived shortly after Haiti's quake and established an aid organization now known as J/P Haitian Relief Organization. The group has provided schools, medical care and housing to thousands of people displaced in Haiti.

"However, Mr.Sean Penn went above and beyond ordinary acts of kindness. He left his comfortable Hollywood life to physically join my brothers and sisters amidst the unspeakable devastation. Somehow, he never left us since. Our worries became his worries. He really shares our pains and frustrations. Mr.Penn, it is people like you who revive my faith in human nature and make me believe in the future of mankind.You are a credit to the Peace Summit Award and to our species. Let me say this to you on behalf of every Haitian : MERCI , MON FRÈRE! Thank you, my brother !" declared the Consul General of Haiti in Chicago, Lesly Condé.
