Haiti - Reconstruction : The Mayor of Port-au-Prince announces several actions in the capital !

Tuesday, at a press conference, Gabrielle Hyacinthe, the mayor of Port-au-Prince, has indicated that demolitions would begin, that the Communal Asylum and the Town Hall would be relocated and that a large clean-up operation of the capital will start from next month.

"...we begin to identify a series of home that are damaged and who are a danger [...] there are houses that were already coded [red], we listed them and we will publish them in the newspaper, we will make eference to the address and owners. We give 11 days for the Town Hall with other partners begin to demolish these houses.

We also work at the level of Communal Asylum which has many problems, we look at how we can move the elderly, we find funds that will allow us to relocate the Communal asylum and the City hall of Port-au-Prince...

[...] We will clean up the city, it is very important. We will set up a project where people will work in every neighborhood, in the 35 neighborhoods [...] we think we can have between 10 to 40 people in each neighborhood, who will be deployed to clean [... ] payment will be made via the Town Hall, this will give work to more people over a period of 6 months [...] we will start by next month..."
