Haiti - Security : Laurent Lamothe announces concrete measures

Friday morning, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, accompanied by Reginald Delva, the Secretary of State for Public Security and Mario Andresol, the Director of the National Police, visited two specialized units of the National Police, CIMO and SWAT TEAM to inquire about the problems faced by the officers in the exercise of their function.

The Prime Minister reiterated his support to the National Police, only national force legally in activity throughout the national territory and announced a series of concrete measures among others :

  • Purchase of uniforms and vehicles

  • Arms command

  • Repair of vehicles nonoperational

  • Refurbishment of premises housing the current DDO

  • Increase in staff

  • Salaries adjustments

  • Benefits for police officers

  • Construction of new police stations.

The Prime Minister urged the population to have more confidence in the National Police and assured that the Government Martelly-Lamothe will do its best to give the National Police in general and to the specialized units in particular, the necessary means to enable them to accomplish their mission which is to protect and serve the people.
