Haiti - Music : A title of the Orchestre Septentrional of Haiti, selected by World Music Network

A title of the Orchestre Septentrional of Haiti, which will celebrate in July its 64th birthday, was selected by the record label World Music Network, to be part of the compilation "The Rough Guide to Caribbean Cafe", which is officially released this Monday, May 28, 2012...

World Music Network, an English record label well-known, includes several labels, including the famous series "Rough Guide". Initially started to accompany the tour guides 'Rough Guide', this series was intended to inform the Western public music from around the world through different artists, representing their country. It became an instant hit, and after more than 270 volumes, it won the title "Bible of World Music." The guides cover destinations as diverse as Madagascar, Iran and the Himalayas. A compilation, now exhausted, has already been devoted to Haiti in 2002.

It is a title of the latest album of the Orchestre Septentrional of Haiti, "Pi Douvan" composed by maestro Jocelyn "Ti Bas" Alce, who was chosen to be part of this new Caribbean compilation. Among the artists alongside he Orchestre Septentrional of Haiti, there is Andy Palacio of Belice, Grupo Desandann, Septeto Nacional, Sierra Maestra and Ska Cubano of Cuba, Aurelio of Honduras, Gyptian of Jamaica, Paracumbé of Puerto Rico, Chichi Peralta and Puerto Plata of the Dominican Republic, Un Solo Pueblo of Venezuela, André Toussaint of Bahamas and Yuchi Cordoba of Curacao. Boukman Eksperyans complete the list of artists commissioned to spread around the world the musical flavor of the Caribbean.

The compilation "The Rough Guide to Caribbean Cafe" is available in the record dealers and all online retailers, and on the website of World Music Network.
