Haiti - Health : Delegation of the Office of the First Lady at the Hospital of Petit-Goâve

At the invitation of Deputy of the Constituency of Petit-Goâve, Stevenson Jacques Thimoléon, the office of the First Lady has sent this Thursday, June 21, 2012, a delegation composed of Gonzague Day, the Departmental Delegate of the West, of a physician and of Ms. Mona Adam who led this mission, in order to make a diagnosis of the situation and problems of the Hospital Notre-Dame of Petit-Goâve...

The delegation, accompanied by the Deputy Thimoléon, visited for more than three hours the different hospital departments. Mona Adam questioned the Dr. Lesly Pierre, Director of the hospital, Joël Charles the administrator of this institution as well as several patients.

Following this visit, Ms. Mona Adam deplored the state of the hospital "[...] I can not even describe what I have just found, this hospital is dysfonctionel [...] gaps are evident ; lack of technical staff, shortage of nurses, lack of equipment, lack of services [...] the rooms do not meet the standards [health]. I will recommend in my report that urgent measures are taken in favor of the Hospital Notre-Dame."

For his part, the Departmental Delegate of the West, has promised that the Government would soon improve the situation of health services for the population of Petit-Goâve.
