Haiti - Economy : Prime Minister wants an «awakening citizen»

The Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, met Thursday, June 28, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of the Economic Forum of Private Sector of Affairs, around measures to be adopted in order to fighting generally, against corruption, fraud and smuggling at the border Haitiano-Dominican to increase government revenue.

Other issues constituting a block to the smooth running of the Haitian economy have been discussed. The Head of Government hopes, in this perspective, an awakening citizen whose objective would be to accompany the State to address its primary mission : ensure an efficient public service to the population. For this purpose, the involvement of the international community and of Haitian private sector is crucial to carry out the struggle initiated by the government Martelly-Lamothe.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister convened, the men and businesswomen attending the meeting, to get more organized in order to provide a joint response and ordered, against smuggling and tax fraud. This public-private partnership reflects a new era in the policy of change advocated by the President Michel Martelly.

In conclusion, Laurent Lamothe said he will continue to raise awareness the public opinion national and international on the necessity to support the efforts of the new policies implemented.
