The Consul General of Haiti in Miami, Mr. François Guillaume II, accompanied by Mr. Calvin Cadet, Vice-Consul and Head of Communications, went the past weekend in San Juan [Puerto Rico - State of jurisdiction of the Consulate], for an evaluation visit, during which he met leaders of the Haitian community.

The visit coincided with the feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help [Patroness of Haiti], celebrated with pomp in San Juan, by the Puerto Rican and Haitian communities, whose Bishop Guire Poulard of the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince was the guest of honor.

Moreover, in the presence of several great personalities of San Juan whose Mr. Kenneth D. McClintock, Secretary of State of Puerto Rico, of Evangelina Feliz Santana, Vice Consul of the Dominican Republic to Puerto Rico and private sector representatives, Mr. Guillaume took the opportunity to speak to the Haitian community , and reiterated its determination to improve its services and defend the interests of Haiti throughout its jurisdiction.

Mr. Guillaume wanted to highlight the three pillars of its mission :

Improve the image of Haiti through the Consulates of Haiti of its jurisdiction ;

• Establish a policy of proximity with his community through the services offered by different sections of the Consulate (Culture, tourism, communications, commercial and others) ;

• Promote the new business diplomacy advocated by the Administration Martelly-Lamothe "Haiti is Open for Business".

Consul Guillaume, also invited the overseas compatriots, to celebrate the "Carnival of Flowers" which will take place on 29, 30 and 31 July 2012 in Port-au-Prince, and take the opportunity to discover the great opportunities offered by Haiti in various investment areas whose the industrial park of Caracol.

Regrouping behind the voice of the Father Olin Pierre-Louis, the Haitian citizens of this city, do not hide their satisfaction to have been visited by Mr. Guillaume II in San Juan, and took the opportunity, to express their grievances.
