Haiti - Economy : Supplier development program

Friday, Wilson Laleau, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, participated in the launch of a training seminar on the Supplier development program and the creation of inclusive markets, at the Karibe Convention Center.

More than thirty professionals in economics, in finance and accounting attended this workshop to enable them to contribute to the development and expansion of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). An initiative that fits perfectly with the support program that the Ministry of Commerce, intends to provide to the commercial and industrial enterprises. This public-private partnership, explained the Minister Laleau, will generate economic growth and job creation across the country.

Present in the circumstances, Hervé Denis, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Haiti (CCIH), did not hide his appreciation for such an initiative. He believes that the Minister's approach is extremely important recalling that it has the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Alejandro Pacheco, Private Sector Specialist at UNDP, took the opportunity to explain to the participants the reasons that motivated UNDP to engage in such a process. He provided explanations on the objectives and purpose of this training seminar, as well as the content of the program and the work that the participants will have to perform on the ground.

Wilson Laleau, believes that economic growth is of paramount importance for the development of the country and affirms his determination to provide all necessary support for the implementation of such projects, likely to allow the current government to apply a true employment policy in the country.
