Located approximately 12 kilometers north of Gonaives, Duqueney is considered as one of the main granaries of the town of Gonaïves (Artibonite), in terms of agricultural production, the Minustah has funded to the tune of 46.824 U.S. dollars through its Quick Impact Projects (QIPs), the cleaning of 12km of main supply channel of 949 hectares of farmland of Duqueney.

To facilitate the good distribution of the water, 32 metal doors, measuring between one to 2.5 meters have been installed. With these infrastructure, the farmers can irrigate their fields thoroughly. In addition, a concrete footbridge of four meters long, was built above the channel for the delivery of crops to the city center.

"Previously, we used tree trunks, straw and mud to guide water in our fields," said Jeune Destiné, the President of Monitoring committee of project implemented by the organization Solidarity Gonaïvienne (SOGO). "A situation, sometimes source of conflict around of water resources. Today, we have just to pull one or the other metal door to reduce or increase the flow of water. Already, we observe a marked improvement in our production."

"Regulating the irrigation system means control and increase our production," explains a producer of corn, proudly showing the green expanse of its field "To irrigate all the surface of the field, eight hours was necessary today, three hours are enough."
