Wednesday, under the auspices of the Departmental Officeof Education of Southeast, a workshop was held at local restaurant "Sous le manguier" n Jacmel. Several actors of the educational system in the region took part in this activity, including inspectors, educational advisers, teacher union representatives, as well as Vice-delegates and mayors of different municipalities of the department. This workshop was an opportunity for participants to discuss about the Operational Plan of Education [2010-2015], prepared by the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP).

The normalien, Marc Elder Charles, Departmental Director of Education of Southeast, declared at this initiative taken by MENFP aimed to boost Haiti's education system through the implementation of concrete actions. "This modern operational plan, constitutes the major priorities of the Ministry of Education, including the strengthening of good governance, improving the quality and access to education among others," stating that with respect to this operational plan, the Departmental office of the Southeast had set a schedule of activities, to guide the guide actions to take, to achieve a better education in the department.

Jacques Yvon Pierre, General Coordinator at the Directorate General of the Ministry of National Education, who presented the operational plan to the participants, indicated that MENFP had decided to develop this new plan by taking into account a set of recommendations that was made by a technical groupin education and training and this framework document, serving today as a reference for the ministry, in its strategic actions. Professor Pierre wished that all the actors are really involved to make this plan a success for the Haitian education system.
