Haiti - Economy : The President Martelly is interested to the Cuban mechanical industry

Wednesday, as part of his official visit to Cuba, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by Salvador Pardo Cruz, the Cuban Minister of Industry Sidero-mechanical, visited the bus manufacturing company, "Evelio Prieto Guillama" (CAISA), in Pinar del Rio, about thirty kilometers from Havana.

This plant, that transforms, repairs and makes the vehicle assembly, including buses, is a Cuban model, allowing to meet among others, the needs of students in terms of transport. More than 200 buses are produced each year, allowing the Cuban state to acquire school bus and transit vehicles.

The Head of State has informed on assembly techniques, of recovery, construction and the possibility of cooperation agreements for Haitian technicians in terms of metallurgy, manufacturing of movables, and industrial equipment for hospitals, transport and agriculture among others, in the eventuality of the experimentation in Haiti, of such a plant, tool for economic development and job creation.

Enrique Martinéz, who heads the company, said he was ready to exchange and trade agreements with Haiti, if the Haitian authorities deem it appropriate.
