Haiti - Economy : Construction of Motorcycle Repair Workshops in the North

Two community workshops of troubleshooting and repair of motorcycles are being built in Quartier Morin and Limonade(North). They will allow a social reintegration through work, of about thirty young men and women, selected in areas with high unemployment, of these two nearby municipalities of Cap-Haitien, to open their own business, as repairer of Motorcycle at the end of a six-month training.

Built on municipal land, the workshops will be completed in February 2013. A responsible will accompany the young during the first six months of activity in the development of a management plan and the use of equipment "We want to strengthen the capacity of young people so that they be able to manage the centers and the lots of equipment and tools available," clarified Roosvelt Marcellus, President of the local organization "Action Bon Berger" in charge of the project.

"I am sure that the construction of this workshop will help increase economic activity and reduce violence and juvenile delinquency in the area," rejoiced Belony God-Froy, the mayor of Quartier-Morin.

Funded to the tune of 200,000 U.S. dollars by the Section Community Violence Reduction (CVR) of the Minustah, 5 workshops in total will be built for the benefit of 90 young people from the North. The municipalities concerned are Quartier-Morin, Limonade, Plaine du Nord, Limbé and Milot.
