Haiti - Security : French Cooperation in security

Through its Department of Homeland Security composed of a commissioner and two police officers, the Embassy of France animates a major technical cooperation with the Haitian National Police (HNP).

This cooperation is part of a more comprehensive approach of strengthening of the rule of law and of supportagainst insecurity in Haiti. The internal security of the Embassy is also in charge of cooperation with the firemen and civil security in Haiti.

Last week, the French cooperation has been in the spotlight during a ceremony to handover materials, worth 290.000 euros (380.000 ± U.S. dollars) in the presence of the Ambassador of France, Didier Le Bret, and Godson Orélus,Director General of the PNH.

It has been handed over to the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ): 3 4x4 vehicles and protective equipment for the Brigade of Research and Intervention (BRI), the unit responsible for spinning and arrests in the fight against organized crime.

The Central Directorate of road safety has, meanwhile, received 4 new cameras within the framework of the fight against road accidents.

Finally, the firemen of Port-au-Prince received helmets and many other emergency equipment in order to carry out their duties safely and as efficiently as possible.
