Haiti - Boston Diaspora : The exhibition «Haitian Art in Transit»

As part of the events, which take place from 1st to 14th January 2013, on the occasion of the 209th anniversary of the independence of Haiti and the third anniversary of the 12 January 2010, the Haitian Artists Assembly of Massachusetts, in collaboration with Massport and the U.S. Fund for Unicef, will launch the exhibition "Haitian Art in Transit", described as "a celebration honoring the paintings of Haitian artists from Massachusetts and Jacmel."

About 60 magnificent works, many of which evoke the memory of the disappeared of the earthquake of January 2010 will be part of the exhibition.

Four artists will receives awards from dignitaries and art sponsors : Valentin Ivikel, 76, veteran artist of the Assembly ; Youveline Joseph, 17, the youngest member of the group ; Herold Alvares, from Limbé, Limbe, who lost his arm, but continued to paint, with his lips and his toes to hold his brush ; and Fritz Ducheine, himself an artist, but also a mentor for a long time, and promoter of other artists.

The opening of the exhibition will be held Thursday, January 10 from 5:45 pm to 8:00 pm ar "Boston Logan International Airport -Terminal A - Art Space". For informations : "UNICEF Event" (617) 266-7534 ex. 105
