"Today marks the third anniversary of the tragic earthquake of 2010. On this day the United States joins with Haiti to remember those who lost their lives but more importantly to honor them by looking forward as we re-commit ourselves to helping Haiti realize a future its people deserve.

Haitians have faced adversity both before and since the earthquake. It is your resilience and courage that has gotten the nation through trying times. Indeed, it is these very same qualities that have helped put Haiti on a road towards greater prosperity and stability. And the heart and spirit of Haitians does not stop at the nation's borders. It has inspired people around the world in big and small ways.

The United States looks forward to partnering with Haiti in the days and years to come as we honor those who lost their lives and help Haiti realize a better tomorrow."
