Alix Célestin, the Director General of the National Port Authority (APN), in this commemoration day has a special thought for the many victims of the earthquake of 12 January 2010.

"The Directorate General of the APN, pays tribute to the memory of employees of the institution disappeared during this tragedy and sends his sincere condolences to all those who have lost a loved one on this occasion and to the whole community still traumatized by the drama, three years later.

The Directorate General of APN believes appropriate to recall, to the attention of the entire population, that the memory of the tragedy of January 12, 2010, should not be just an open wound in our collective memory, but should be seen as a opportunity and a burst to change our habits and attitudes, in order to work to the building of a brighter future for our children.

It is also the occasion for the APN to reaffirm its strong commitment to engage among other works, those of the reconstruction of the 'Quai Nord' of Public facilities of International Port of Port au Prince, in the shortest possible time. The year 2013 will definitely be that of the reconstruction to the APN, to materialize the renovation projects of the ports of the Republic to put Haiti in order to put back Haiti on the map of major shipping routes, according to the wishes of the administration Martelly-Lamothe through the motto 'Haiti is open for business'.

It is in this vision that are part the effort of the Direction of the Directorate of the APN in favor of the construction of a harbor competitive modern that meet international standards to satisfy the aspirations of the agents of the port community, meet the expectations of the Haitian people and redo of the APN a reference in the Caribbean."
