Haiti - Social : In Mexico, Haitians have paid tribute to the victims of January 12, 2010

Friday, January 11, is in the French parish of Polanco, that the Embassy of Haiti in Mexico, has chosen to pay tribute to the memory of the 300,000 Haitians disappeared during the earthquake of January 12, 2010, , in the presence of members of the Haitian community in Mexico, the diplomatic corps, and friends of Haiti, Mexican.

The Apostolic Nuncio of Mexico, accompanied by the parish priest of Polanco, paid tribute to the victims and encouraged Haitians not to get discouraged in the process of reconstruction. The celebrant prayed so that the Highest in His goodness, guide the Haitian leaders in the execution of the task to rebuild the country.

The Ambassador of Haiti to Mexico, Guy Lamothe, gave a summary of the facts that occurred in Haiti on January 12th and of the solidarity, that was followed by the international community, NGOs, the Red Cross and Mexican "January 12, 2010 has allowed to see how the world can be in solidarity. Haiti saw that day heroes anonymous, of good Samaritans, who rescued injured without being doctors [...] Therefore, it is necessary to mention that Mexico did not merely act in an emergency, they stayed home to rehabilitate markets, schools, clinics [...]" calling of all his wishes the current Mexican government, headed by Enrique Pena Nieto, to continue in the same direction as its predecessor and in the same line of hope and expectancy. The Ambassador Lamothe, concluded by quoting the American author Napoleon Hill "Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed on an equal or greater benefit."

The following day January 12, anniversary of this sad event, the Haitian Wilner Métellus, President of the Committee for the Defence of naturalized citizen and Afro-Mexicans in the presence of Christian Toussaint, Minister Counselor at the Embassy of Haiti in Mexico and several members of the Haitian diaspora, laid a wreath of flowers on the square "Ángel de la Independencia".

"This day is very important for us, we still have in memory the victims, we bear all of them in our hearts. Unfortunately, there are still people under tents and others without homes," declared Metellus, before to warmly thank Mexicans, for the hospitality offered to Haiti, after January 12, 2010.
