The President Michel Martelly and the First Lady, Ms. Sophia Martelly, expressed their sincere thanks to all those who have contributed greatly to the success of the National Carnival in Cap-Haitien this year, congratulating of a special way the Capois and the hundreds of thousands of revelers who celebrated in peace and mutual respect during the three fat days.

The presidential couple also commended the officers of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), who made a colossal task to facilitate the conduct of these festivities in peace.

This cultural event, the most popular in the country, took place without major incident under the theme "Yon Ayisyen, yon pye bwa. An n pote kole ! Istwa n se idantite n". Indeed, no loss of life was to deplore. However, 856 injuries, whose 22 serious, were recorded. Some of the wounded were able to benefit health care in several hospital centers of the city, while others were treated on site with an emergency unit set up near the stand of the Presidency, at the initiative of the Office of the First Lady of the Republic.

In addition, the Ministry of Health took the opportunity to perform 1,187 HIV testing and examine 23 people for alcohol poisoning and 9 others for diarrhea accompanied by vomiting.

For the second consecutive year after Les Cayes, the Head of State has decentralized the national carnival, an initiative welcomed by the population who participated massively to the carnival parade, embellished with colors and costumes with a dozen allegorical floats, twenty dance troupes, fourteen walking bands, and fifteen musical groups of different trends (compass, root, rap and "rabòday").

This initiative has also generated a positive impact in terms of road infrastructure for the department.

More than 200 reservations were recorded for the cruise ship MV Adriana of the Tropicana Cruise, for mini-cruise services and on the floating hotel in Cap Haitien. In addition, 2,424 guest rooms in the region, was at the service of revelers came from several parts of the country and abroad, came to reinforce the 400 hotel rooms that were full.
