Haiti - Telecommunication : The revolution NATCOM

The company NATCOM, a consortium, created in April 2010 between the Group Viettel Telecom (60%), [a subsidiary of the Vietnamese army] and the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (40%), has revolutionized the Telecommunications Sector in Haiti since the launch of its services in Haiti, September 7, 2011.

Today, NATCOM is revealed the first and the largest foreign investment project post-earthquake in Haiti that has fundamentally changed the landscape of telecommunications in Haiti, by providing a high-speed bandwidth through its network of 3,500 kilometers of fiber optic cable broadband throughout Haiti, which allows high-speed stability and a high-quality connection.

Following the free installation by NATCOM, of a high-definition videoconferencing system between the Presidential Palace and the 20 points of contact including the government offices, of ministries and agencies, these benefits are materialized clearly during the passage of Isaac and Sandy who was for the President Martelly, the only way to communicate in real time with relief workers throughout the country.

Through its fiber optic network, NATCOM is the only company capable of providing a range of services throughout the country whose the videoconference service of high definition in all provinces.

NATCOM has three gateways of international connections with a capacity of 3.5 Gbps, bringing the total capacity of Haiti to 4.5 Gbps, while it was of the order of 1 Gbps before September 2011.

The company has also become a major supplier of connection to other sources (ISP) in Haiti, essentially by eliminating the congestions of international bandwidth, and improving the average speed of access from 2 to 3 Mbps to hundreds of Mbps to meet the needs of users and business requirements.

Its 3G mobile Internet services are available at the national level and allow every resident, even in the most remote mountainous regions of Haiti, to have access to an Internet service of quality.

With the establishment of a submarine cable network, the NATCOM built its own sales outlets and distribution channels. The sales team and its collaborators roam the streets to offer and introduce their services/products to individuals. This type of direct selling has generated many employment and stable income to more than 7,000 people.
