The President Michel Martelly, learned with sadness the passing of Dr. Daniel Mathurin, who died from his injuries following a traffic accident occurred, Sunday, February 17, 2013, on the road of Santiago, Dominican Republic.

"I salute the memory of this Doctor, passionate about history, geophysics and astronomy, interested by the promotion of a Haiti regenerated, that draws its energy of Precolumbian and Afro-Caribbean roots," indicated the Head of State.

"Remember that through his speeches and panel discussions, the couple Daniel and Ginette contributed to awaken the spirit of our compatriots on the resources and the intrinsic value of our country. The communications of Dr. Daniel Mathurin constituted for the new generation, of sources of inspiration for the establishment of a genuine scientific culture in Haiti.

Dr. Daniel Mathurin will remain forever etched in the collective memory of Haitians, that will keep of him, the image of a fellow, who tried to provide explanations to natural phenomena, that the ordinary man can not understand.

I express my sincere condolences to all members of the family and many friends of the late Dr. Mathurin," declared the Head of State.
