Haiti - Environment : A green barrier of 500 hectares at Morne l'Hôpital

Friday was held at the Hotel Le Plaza, a workshop between Jean François Thomas, the Minister of the Environment and 137 Community Organizations of Morne l'Hôpital, in order to decide on a final resolution on the beginning of work of Protection and Stabilization to slow down deforestation at Morne l'Hôpital. This workshop will also be held in Jalousie, Carrefour-Feuilles, Martissant-Fontamara-Bizoton and Carrefour.

During this workshop, the Minister of the Environment announced within the framework of program "Ann sove lavi nan mòn lopital", the construction in Morne Hospital, of a 500-hectare green barrier, composed of vetiver, a plant species, highly effective in soil conservation and the environment, adding that this project lasting 7 months, will reate 1,000 jobs, and that 17 brigadiers, will monitor the environment.

The Deputy of the 3rd constituency of Port-au-Prince, Jean Baptiste M'Zou Naya Belange, welcomed the Government's commitment and said he was ready to fully cooperate with the project, saying that "the involvement of local authorities, mayors, CASEC and ASEC will enable the project to make its way quickly."
