Haiti - Sports : Meeting with the heads of sports federations and associations

Thursday in the annex of Ministry [to Frères], Magalie Racine, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, accompanied by members of his cabinet, met with leaders of national sports federations and associations.

During this first meeting, who wanted to be an initial contact with the sports movement in Haiti, the Minister assured the members of the Federations, that all sports will now be taken into account. "I'll tell you right now that there will be no exclusion [...] Gone are the days of disciplines ignored. The Inclusion is our watchword," while recognizing that the work was immense, she launched a call for unity to all sports leaders in order to accomplish their mission.

Sports leaders, took the opportunity of this meeting to present their congratulations to the Minister and to intervene on several issues concerning them, including :

  • Structural strengthening of Federations ;

  • The construction of sports facilities adequate ;

  • The vote of the Sports Act and the Organic Law of the Ministry ;

  • The development of a genuine public policy of sports development ;

  • The establishment of mechanisms for dialogue, to facilitate relations between the Ministry and sports organizations.

The Minister has taken note of the interventions and promised more meetings in order to continue to support the federative and voluntary movement and work to the flourishing of our young athletes throughout the country.
