Fresnel Jean Baptiste, Director General of the General Administration of Customs (AGD) announced that his institution, for the month of March 2013, had collected revenue amounting to about 2 billion 99 million gourdes, compared to March 2012, the customs revenue amounted to 1 billion 900 million gourdes. Fresnel Jean Baptiste attributes this performance to the results of efforts made ​​in the fight against smuggling and corruption, put in place by the Government.

In addition, as part of these efforts, the Director General of the AGD, announced that in order to eliminate the operations of racketeers who exploit and mislead, traders and individuals, information on customs procedures and amount of taxes to pay, will soon be made ​​available to persons concerned, on the AGD website and in all offices of the institution. In addition, a hotline will be put in place, allowing the public to obtain all relevant information relating to the amounts of taxes to be paid.
