Haiti - Justice : Donation of 2,000 codes of Human Rights

Tuesday, as part of the actions undertaken by the France in favor of the promotion of the rule of law in Haiti and support for judicial actors, the Embassy of France, gave 2,000 codes of Human Rights to law professionals and associations defending Human Rights.

These codes, congregate all the international conventions on Human Rights ratified by Haiti. According to the Haitian Constitution, legislation, are part of the domestic law and can be invoked and applied in the country, which is rarely the case...

The objective of this distribution is to facilitate access to the texts to encourage their application, otherwise the strugglesundertaken to improve the situation of human rights and to make adopt binding international standards are vain," said the Embassy of France.

Recall that last December, the Embassy has funded a 10-days training in Haiti, on issues of Human Rights, provided among legal professionals and associations defending Human Rights by European specialists. It also participated in the establishment of thelegal library collections of the School of Magistrates and of the courthouse of Port-au-Prince in collaboration with Library Without Borders. More than 2,200 French and Haitian legal works were offered.
