Professor Jean Vernet Henry, Rector of the State University of Haiti (UEH), is on a mission to Brazil from May 6 to 10, 2013 to attend the 16th General Assembly of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) will be held at Latin America Memorial in Sao Paolo.

This is an important meeting which will alloz to adopt the statutory reports, to approve the report of activities of associative boards, to renew the instances of the Agency and elect a new President, the Board of Directors and those of Associative councils.

This mission is an opportunity for UEH to continue to strengthen its partnerships with universities members of this important network of 800 universities spread in 98 countries.

In his absence the Vice-President Academic Affairs, Professor Jean Poincy will assumes the interim to the UEH.

The Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie is one of the largest associations of universities in the world, with 782 member institutions in 98 countries. It brings together higher education and research institutions on five continents using French as the language of instruction and research. Founded in 1961 to establish between the French-language universities a link of cooperation to strengthen exchanges, it joined the institutional Francophonie in 1989 by becoming the operator for higher education and research. The agenmcy has for mission to contribute to the solidarity between French universities and the development of a scientific space in French respecting the diversity of cultures and languages. The AUF is present in 40 countries with 70 regional offices bringing together 427 personnel, including 339 in the region. Its headquarters is located in Montreal, the central services in Paris.
