Any person holding a U.S. nonimmigrant visa of 5 years, obtained in Port-au-Prince, and whose expiration date is less than 12 months, will be able as of 5 June 2013, renew this same visa

The applicants will have only to ill out the online form DS-160 and go to the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince [open every Wednesday from 7:30 am to 11:00 am] with the required documents [valid passport and/or that with the last visa issued ; eceipt of payment of fees (Sogebank), a recent passport photograph].

The Consul indicated that renewal applications would be automatically approved and that the Embassy beyond these simplification measures, reserves itself the right of convening any applicant whose case require an interview. On the other hand, the Consul Smith said that the new measures do not concern the changes in the type of visa which remain subject to the usual procedures.
