Thursday, Charles Jean Jacques, Minister of Social Affairs and Labour has proceeded to the inauguration of a community restaurant in Haut Canapé-Vert. This initiative aims to provide food assistance of proximity to the needy populations with the distribution of more than 500 hot meals each day, Monday to Friday, for a symbolic contribution of 10 gourdes per beneficiary.

Very satisfied of hygienic conditions in which the food was prepared, the Minister said to have reliable data on the lifestyle of the population from a recent census conducted by its Ministry "Beyond the hot meal, we have in preparation a program of vocational training and integration of young people into the labor market to make them better able to ensure their independence and better build their future."

Minister Jean Jacques explained that it was a necessity for the Government to take this policy of proximity, particularly with the most vulnerable populations across the country. After the inauguration of seven community restaurants on a set of 90 planned, we can imagine the number of jobs that welfare program has generated taking into account the fact that every restaurant can create eight jobs.

"I am at the listening of the grievances of the population [...] and some of your needs will be identified to be resolved progressively," assured the Minister of Social Affairs, to Mr. Jean Louis Renord, Representative of the Organization "Brase Lide de Cite Lucien", which ensures that the health, drinking water, electricity problemes faced by the population of Haut Canapé Vert, find a favorable response from the Administration Martelly-Lamothe.

Note that the Minister should also proceed this week to the inauguration of a Community restaurant in Desermitte (Pétion-Ville), Fontamara and Cabaret.
