The Government welcomes the deserved victory of the national football team at the expense of Trinidadian selection (2-0) and stresses the determination of Grenadiers who defended with honor and conviction the Haitian bicolour against adverse selection. This important victory of the national team will allow Grenadiers to continue their progress in this 12th edition of the Gold Cup.

The Government that continues to accompany the Haitian football to the extent of its resources, invites the public and the Diaspora in particular to support the national team which, through its victory represents a source of pride for the entire country.

Friday at Sun Life Stadium (Miami Gardens / Florida) Grenadiers faced for their second match of the Gold Cup in 2013, the Socca Warriors of Trinidad & Tobago. Decided to make people forget their defeat against Hondura (2-0) the Grenadiers were not taken by surprise in the first minutes of the match, like was the case with Spain, Italy and Honduras.

Dominated the first three minutes by the Socca Warriors the Grenadiers reacted quickly by multiplying small passes forcing Trinidadians to a balloon race controlled by the Haitians. Well organized in defense around the quartet (Alcenat, Aveska, Jerome and Jaggy), the Grenadiers have only took fifteen minutes to open the scoring (1-0) after a stunning strike from Jean Eudes Maurice (15 '), the Socca Warriors seemed overwhelmed, looking only the Haitians playing...

At halftime the score remained unchanged for Haiti

After the break, the Socca Warriors after a mediocre game in the first period, have wreaked havoc in the Haitian defense following a masterful action of Kenwyne Jones (46 ') whose header hit the pole of Frandy Montrévil. Despite all their efforts to try equalizing the results were not at the rendezvous, our Grenadiers taking control of the match at the 52nd minute, Jean Eudes Maurice took a double (2-0). Score will remain unchanged until the end of the encounter.

With this well-deserved victory against Trinidad & Tobago (2-0), the Grenadiers will need only a draw, on July 15 to "BBVA Compass Stadium" (Houston / Texas) against El Salvador, to go in quarter-final.
