Haiti - Security : 26 armed bandits arrested last weekend

During his weekly press briefing, Me. Lucmane Délille, the Government Commissioner to the Civil Court of Port-au-Prince, told the press, in the premises of Courthouse, that after several joint force operations with the prosecution, his past weekend, 26 armed bandits were arrested including, among others : Ti Jonas aka Cola, Jean Marie Gaël, Ti Garry known under this name, for robbery, assault and armed robbery in Lamentin 54, Petionville and Cité Soleil, inviting victims to file complaints against these individuals in order to facilitate the work of Justice.

Reiterating his determination in the fight against crime and insecurity in its jurisdiction, Me Lucmane Delille declared "The bandits use several strategies to conduct their operations, but we too, we put in place our strategies to counteract [...]" In his view, it is time to put an end to these acts "It is time for on the peaceful citizens to live well in Haiti."

In addition, the Commissioner of Government announced its decision to close all night clubs of Carrefour, until further notice. A decision following the death of a former U.S. colonel, shot during a confrontation with a police officer in a club of Carrefour last week. According to Me Delille, the decision to close the clubs for a while, is to avoid any tension that might arise from this incident "We have to take these steps to counteract first offenders and also offer these clubs, which are often used as a place of chaos, a new way of working [...]"
