The Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) interpellated by the urgency of protecting the property, especially land ownership titles, released mid-July, a memorandum addressed to the Chiefs of prosecutor's office near the 18 Courts of First Instance of the country, inviting them to amplify the struggle in favor of respect and preservation of private property.

In its memorandum, the ministry reminds the magistrates of the prosecution their duty consisting in the protecting of interests of peasants, entrepreneurs and owners of all horizons, at a time when Haiti wants to be open to investment. MJSP promises at the same time, to take the necessary sanctions to the place of any parquetier that would have been guilty of illegal dispossession.

"The Ministry of Justice and Public Security considers it necessary to remind the Government Commissioners that their role is, among other things, to protect the property of citizens living in communal sections and take action against the unlawful acts detrimental to private property in general, within the framework of the implementation of the criminal policy of the Government," says Jean Renel Sanon, the Minister of Justice in this memorandum.

The Minister also invited the Government Commissioners to pass the necessary instructions to the judges of peace in their respective jurisdiction for the strict observance of forms and procedures drawn by law for eviction and expulsion. They are now obliged to submit a detailed report of their operations with respect to private property. The report submitted to the analysis of the prosecution which will then be forwarded to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.

The Minister Sanon said firmly believe that the protection of all private property is essential to guarantee the rule of law.
