Haiti - Sports : 7th edition of the Games of La Francophonie. 06/08/2013 12:33:50
34 Haitian athletes in various disciplines (football, judo, cycling, athletics, table tennis among others...) and 14 artists in various fields, will represent Haiti in the 7th edition of the Games of La Francophonie to be held in Nice (France) from 7 to 15 September 2013 which will bring together more than 3,000 thousand young athletes and artists from 55 states, from five continents to participate in these high level sporting and cultural competitions. Let us note among others "the participation of the Haitian U20 Selection Esso Fraudlin Amicy, Augusmat wilberne, Edouard Voltaire, Johnley Chéry, Sheelove Compère, Spencer Désir, Luckner Junior Horat, Steven Jean Claude, James Jean Francois, Jean Dany Maurice, Renald Metellus, Charles Alexandre, Dukens Nazon, Nelien Alexandre, Luis Valendi Odelus, Paulson Pierre, Samuel Mardochée Pompée, Jude Saint-Louis and Ylozier Givemilord] will play in Group B against Gabon, Senegal and Lebanon. The Internationale Soccer League (UISL) has already announced two test matches for young Grenadiers. On August 17, they will face the team of All Stars Cabo (Cape Verde), before playing August 25 against the formation Expos Soccer Club (Portugal) based in New Bedford. 4 judoka, Desravine (52 kg), Betina Chéry (57 kg), Robenson Beaucicaut (73 kg) and Jackly Jean Baptiste (81 kg). Samuel Lainé (triple jump) and Moise Joseph (100 meters) will defend the colors of our bicolor in athletics. 6 cyclists will also be on the starting line... "So far everything is going very well [...] We have a lot of help from the French and Canadian governments," rejoiced Magalie Racine, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, whose the Ministry will support the tickets and necessary supervision at the level of training it will be the first that Haiti will participate in the Games of La Francophonie with a so large delegation," (approximately 70 people, including athletes, artists and technical staff). The Canadian Ambassador, Henry Paul Normandin praised young athletes Haitian saying that his country will provide assistance to the Haitian delegation whilewishing to Haitian success in these games.
