Haiti - Politic : The Lower House passed a interpretative law extending the mandate of senators

Recall that on July 31, the Assembly of Senators voted [16 votes for, 0 against, with one abstention], an interpretative law of Articles 85, 231 and 231.1 of the Electoral Act of 2008, which reduced the 6-year term of senators took office in 2009, setting their departure in 2014 instead of 2015.

The Deputy Gluck Théophile, the First Secretary of the Office of the Chamber of Deputies, stated that the Chamber of Deputies ratified Tuesday this law [27 votes in favor, 25 against and 2 abstentions], in the same terms as the Senate, despite the strong reservations of some members present of the government pro majority bloc "Member for Stability and Progress" (PSP).

This legislation should be sent soon to the Executive for publication in the official newspaper "Le Moniteur", to come into effect... Once this law promulgated, the senators elected in 2009 would leave in January 2015 and not in January 2014.
