Haiti - Politic : Laurent Lamothe met with Canadian Minister of International Development

Monday, Laurent Lamothe, as Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, met at its offices in Bourdon, Christian Paradis, Canada's Minister of International Development and the Francophonie.

During the cordial meeting, Laurent Lamothe reiterated the Government's commitment to work towards strengthening of relations between the two countries, expressing his satisfaction with the appreciable support of Canada to put in place structures to strengthen security in the country, particularly in aspects related to training, development and construction "The inauguration of the building of the General Inspectorate and the police of Delmas, Gressier, Léogane, Côtes de Fer, Croix-des-Bouquets, Grand Goâve, the naval base of Les Cayes, via Canadian cooperation, are eloquent proof of this successful cooperation as key elements in the fight against drug trafficking in the department of the South."

Laurent Lamothe, did not fail to emphasize the attention of his partner who was, among others, accompanied by the Ambassador of Canada to Haiti, Henri Paul Normandin, that the insecurity rate decreased significantly in the country and that Canada has contributed greatly in terms of its support to the National Police of Haiti (PNH).

The Minister Lamothe said that he hoped that the Canadian government uses the Haitian structures whose the Coordination Framework of External Aid Development (CAED), to monitor certain projects in the context of strengthening development aid.

For his part, Minister Christian Paradis, reiterated his country's commitment to support the efforts of the administration Martelly in his work of rebuilding the country "Canada has made ​​significant investments to support the reconstruction and development of Haiti [1 billion in six years, including $ 250 million in 2012]. Because I know that you have a very dynamic administration, we will work to continue to strengthen profitable relationships for Haitians and Canadians."
