Haiti - Politic : Soon, a direct air link Haiti-Venezuela

Saturday ended the 11th Council of Ministers of Petrocaribe. The 18 member countries have signed a document with multiple resolutions that go in the direction of the construction of the Petrocaribe Economic Zone.

In late afternoon, the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Petrocaribe, ended with the announcement of a Memorandum of bilateral alliance, signed by Rafael Ramirez, President of Council and Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, "Major advances have concerned the themes of Transport and Communications, Tourism and the Social and Cultural domain," Mr. Ramirez said. The resolutions taken by the Council are contained in this alliance protocol. Progress that materialize in particular, by an agreement between the two countries which provides inter alia, that in a short time, a direct air route will link Haiti and Venezuela.

In terms of trade and integration, customs tariffs, legal problems and many other issues have been effectively addressed. Potential of sustainable development have been identified and an application process has already started, said the President of the Council Petrocaribe.

FAO has accompanied some sessions, especially those relating to the theme Social and Culture, informed the President of the Council. It therefore exists common socio-cultural programs to the countries of Petrocaribe whose benefits go to projects for the poor populations.

Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe officially ended the 11th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Petrocaribe by thanking all stakeholders. "It is this solidarity that this meeting emphasizes, and who makes advances the initiative of Commander Chavez. Now we have moved on to phase two, from the Petrocaribe to the Petrocaribe Economic Zone, a zone based on trade more fairly, with respect, solidarity, as always did Venezuela [...] This council is a symbol, a testament for Haiti. We will never forget Chávez ; 500,000 Haitians have the right to education thanks to him. Haiti is proud to be on the path of development through cooperation of all neighboring and friendly countries... Viva le Venezuela ! Viva Haití !," concluded the Prime Minister.

Note that the Haitian culture has been beautifully represented by the performance of different groups who charmed guests at this Council meeting such as : Samba Zao, Troubakapela, Jahpazon, Vodoula, Strings, RaraFanm, the dance company Jean-René Delsoin, Raram anbd Haïti Troubadour who were able to communicate the vibrations of our identity.
