Haiti - Diplomacy : Haiti welcomes the US-Russia Agreement in the Syrian crisis

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs "Welcomes the agreement reached September 14th, 2013 between the United States of America and the Federation of Russia, who has allowed to avoid recourse to force, prioritizing preferably diplomatic means in order to achieve a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis.

Haitian Chancellery also welcomes the Syrian government which has promised to give its full support to the implementation of this agreement, a tool likely to contribute to a peaceful resolution of this crisis that has lasted too long and that threatens to engulf the entire region of the Middle East with all that this may cause in terms of escalation of violence, loss of property and lives particularly among civilians.

As it had done in its press release of September 9, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on all actors involved in the resolution of the crisis of chemical weapons to show good faith in the implementation of that Agreement in order to end the suffering of the civilian population and to stop the escalation of violence resulting in the deaths of thousands of innocent people and the displacement of many families.

The Chancellery encourages all members of the international community to play their historic role in order to achieve a lasting solution to the conflict. For its part, the Republic of Haiti continues to promote cooperation between actors and regional and international partners, particularly within the United Nations, in order to contribute to peace and stability in the region."
