Haiti - Economy : Restitution of the Diagnostic Trade Integration Study in Haiti

On 24 and 25 September 2013, will be held at the Karibe Convention Center, a validation meeting of the Diagnostic Trade Integration Study (DTIS) in Haiti.

Wilson Laleau, acting Minister of Trade and Industry explains in a note that this study funded by the "Fonds d’affectation spéciale du Cadre Intégré Renforcé" (CIR) (Enhanced Integrated Framework - EIF) and prepared by a group of national and international consultants, committed by the World Bank, focuses on six growth sectors and transversal constraints to their growth.

It is to agree on the substance of the document and ensure that the priorities to out of the action matrix of DTISmeet the expectations of stakeholders of sectors and are in line with the national strategic framework for economic and social development.

This validation of the DTIS, precedes the development of an action plan that will serve as roadmap to a real business development focused on the organization of value chains and the capacity building and turned towards an increase and a diversification of the offer and a better product development and services to provide greater value.

Workshops of September 24 :

- Agricultural Products niches;

- Tourism;

- Non-tourism services based on process outsourcing.

Workshops of September 25 :

- Manufacture of clothing and textiles;

- Cultural and creative industries;

- Mining;

- Trade Policy;

- Transversal constraints.

The Cadre Intégré Renforcé (CIR) (Enhanced Integrated Framework - EIF) is a multi-donor program that assists the least developed countries (LDCs) to play a more active role in the multilateral commercial system. It aims, more broadly, to promote economic growth and sustainable development and get out more people of poverty.
