Wednesday in Santo Domingo, after a meeting of nearly 3 hours at the National Palace, the National Immigration Council of the Dominican Republic, chaired by President Danilo Medina, the Dominican Government, through the voice of its spokesman of the Presidency, Roberto Rodriguez Marchena, announced that it accepted in its entirety the judgment 168-13 Constitutional Tribunal (TC), which defines the conditions under which an alien may be Dominican citizens and reiterated its commitment to implement a policy clear and transparent on immigration, in conformity with the Constitution and laws Dominican, in respect of human rights and international agreements, specifying that the Executive fully respected the independence of constitutional powers.

"[...] The State [Dominican] is sensitive to the distress of those who are considered Dominican who are affected in their rights as a result of this decision," says the document issued by the National Immigration Council "despite the decision, there is a human problem that we must solve [...]"

The Spokesman of the Government declared that the circumstances in which many Haitians who felt "denationalized" according to their own claims and without ignore or flout the decision of the Constitutional Court, the Dominican state worked to find a coherent and human approach, as had declared recently the President Medina to everal descendants of Haitians during a meeting at the National Palace.

The National Immigration Council decided that within 30 days, the Central Electoral Commission will make a report that will measure the impact of the decision regarding foreigners recorded legally and illegally. The Council will develop, within a maximum period of 60 days, the regulation plan of foreigners and proceed immediately to the formation of the National Migration Institute and the appointment of its Director General. Following this decision, an important step has been taken towards the implementation of the judgment of the Constitutional Court.

Was present at the meeting the current members of the Board namely : the Minister of the Armed Forces, Admiral Siegfried Pared ; Labour Minister, Francisco Javier Garcia ; the Minister of Tourism, Freddy Hidalgo ; the Minister of Public Health, Luis Ramon Rodriguez ; the Minister of Agriculture, Jose Manuel Trullols ; the Deputy Foreign Minister, Roberto Rosario Márquez ; the President of the Central Electoral Commission, Elpidio Báez ; the he President of the Commission of the Interior and Police of the House of deputies and the Minister of the Interior and Police, José Ramón Fadul, President of the National Council of Immigration.
