Haiti - NOTICE : Dance performance of group Step Afrika

The Public Affairs Office of the Embassy of the United States in Haiti, invites the public in general and dance lovers in particular to attend the dance show which will be hosted by the African-American group Step Afrika on Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 6:00 pm at Place Boyer in Petion-Ville.

Step Afrika, the first professional company in the world dedicated to the tradition of dance steps (stepping), is famous worldwide for its efforts to bring the public to appreciate and use the traditional dance as a educational tool for young people. Step Afrika organizes events for tens of thousands of spectators each year, particularly in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean.

Based in Washington, DC, Step Afrika (founded in 1994) is the first and only cultural ambassador to represent the city of Washington and the American Nation at cultural events around the world. Each year, the company is touring in 50 different cities in colleges and theaters from Maine to Mississippi. The group constitutes a national model for the use of dance to educate on topics such as : teamwork, academic achievement and cross-cultural understanding. Step Afrika is a regular partner of the Cultural Center John F. Kennedy which advocates for the Performing Arts in Washington. The group also made ​​presentations at various prestigious venues including the White House and the Lincoln Center in New York.
