In a statement of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) and the Bar of Port-au-Prince, dated November 27, 2013, it was decided the departure of the Government Commissioner, from the Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince, Me Francisco René.

« Considering that since October 24, 2013, for the purpose of obtaining the departure of Me René Francisco from the Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince, the General Assembly of lawyers declared a general and unlimited stop working ; that this decision was supported by other bars of the Republic as a sign of solidarity ;

Considering that in the best interests of the litigants, the main victims of the paralysis of the judiciary within the jurisdiction of Port-au-Prince, it is important to evacuate immediately this crisis, creates a calm atmosphere conducive to the resumption of judicial activities ;

It was agreed :

1- The lifting of the unlimited general work stoppage.

2- The departure of the Government Commissioner Rene Francisco, from the Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince.

3- In addition, both parties agree to work together to evacuate before 1 January 2014 a large number of penal files in the context of reducing the rate of prolonged pre-trial detention.

Me René Francisco would have been recalled to MJSC as chargé de mission for Judicial Affairs, while his successor could be Me Darius Kerson Charles. These informations should be taken with the usual precautions, pending the official announcement.
