Tuesday in Brussels, the last day of the European tour of President Martelly, the Head of State has stepped up meetings. After discussions in the morning with Rudy Demotte, Minister-President of Wallonia and the Federation Wallonia-Brussels, he met Hernan Van Rompuy, President of the European Council.

After his head-to-head, the President of the European Council stated "We discussed the need to ensure a stable political climate and constructive so that the necessary reforms can be implemented. Sustained effort of all parties is indispensable to allow proper organization of parliamentary elections in autumn. In this context, I would like to congratulate the President for the progress in the 'inter- Haitian dialogue'. The European Union , meanwhile , was ready to support the preparation of elections and will contribute to the tune of €5 million to the trust fund managed by the United Nations to cover election costs. Other support measures are also under consideration [...] I also discussed with the President of the challenges faced by a large portion of the Haitian population, including poverty and social inequality. he President reiterated to me his government's commitment to continue working to rectify this situation and showed me from macro-economic data, the most recent advances. This is undoubtedly a long-term effort that requires commitment and a clear vision of the future that we want to build. At the same time, the consolidation of democratic and state structures that could be completed during the term of President Martelly, already constitute a historic step. I can only encourage his efforts.

For my part, I reiterated to President Martelly that the European Union will remain alongside the government of his country and will support its efforts to ensure a better future for the Haitian people. To demonstrate this solidarity, I announced the President Martelly my wish to visit Haiti in July. I am delighted with the warm welcome he gave this suggestion and the invitation he immediately sent me."

Thereafter, the Head of State met with Baroness Sabine de Bethune, President of the Senate before going to Namur (80 km from Brussels) to be decorated "Guest of Honour of the Province of Namur ".

Back in Brussels, the President joined in the evening the Haitian community and friends of Haiti to the 4 stars "The Hotel brussels" hotel to conclude his tour in front of more than 200 people and reiterate its invitation to the diaspora to come and invest in Haiti.

During his stay in Belgium the Head of State, has never failed to sell and positively promote the new image of Haiti during his many interviews with the media (radio, television and newspapers).
