Haiti - Politic : Message of sympathy of President Martelly

President Michel Martelly, learned with sadness the news of the disappearance of the former Ambassador of Haiti to the Dominican Republic [1991-1993 and 2001-2003], Guy Alexandre (68), occurred early this Friday, February 28 following a heart attack.

"The Head of State, on behalf of the Government and people of Haiti, expressed his sincere condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the diplomat who spent much of his career to defend the interests of Haiti in neighboring Republic.

The President of the Republic invites the Haitian youth to be guided by the sense of patriotism and professionalism that has always characterized the course of Ambassador Alexandre."

Remember that Thursday evening Mr. Alexandre had attended a reception at the Dominican Embassy in Port-au-Prince to commemorate the independence of the Dominican Republic.

Following his sudden disappearance, Carlos Morales Troncoso, the Dominican Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed his pain "We join with the pain felt at the moment by his family, including his wife and children, to whom we express our sympathy and condolences [...] We believe that the best tribute we can pay to his memory is to reaffirm our conviction that dialogue is the most appropriate solution to discuss ideas and find a consensus in our democracies."
