Haiti - Agriculture : Success of local produce market in Petionville

Saturday, in an effort to fulfill its mission to accompany the producers, the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR) and the municipality of Petionville in conjunction with "Goût et Saveur", organized a local market to promote local products (processed and unprocessed) with as slogan "Manje, manje lakay, se monte pwodiksyon nasyonal la menm wòtè ak drapo peyi a". This activity that took place on the Place St. Pierre in Petionville was highly appreciated by a large crowd of onlookers and consumers.

This market represents the first of a series of initiatives to stimulate the Haitian public to consume local products and also to interest the large retail chains (supermarkets, hotels, restaurants and other...)

22 exhibitors from across the country took part in. Regional specialties were in the spotlight.

Note that this approach is part of a process of the Ministry, aimed the general improvement of products from harvest to consumption. What is translated in how to harvest the product, mode of transportation, processing, packaging, storage, and its marketing and "in fine" its consumption.

The next market will be held in Damien, Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. An appointment not to be missed !
