Haiti - Tourism : Strengthening of services around tourist sites

In an intervention on a radio station of the capital, Guy Didier Hyppolite, Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries, explained that "tourist sites are opportunities for entrepreneurs and small traders to generate income by offering their services to visitors to these sites," renewing the interest of the Ministry to supervise the micro-entrepreneurs and encourage them to engage in this way.

"Our strategy for the management of tourist sites is to ally ourselves with the community [...] Tourism is the business of all [...] Historic sites in Haiti are being valued through our various communication campaigns, not only via the press but also on social networks [...]" announcing the forthcoming launch of a" travel companion ", a mobile application, which will allow visitors to orient themselves through the tourist sites of Haiti.

Concerning the situation of the Great South, harshly experienced by the passage of hurricane Matthew, the Minister Hyppolite declared "[...] the Ministry works with donors to provide quality assistance to tourism operators of the Great South. The Ministry is already rehabilitating the tourist circuit and redeveloping the sites in the South [...] We must address our vulnerability as a people and develop new reflexes," emphasizing that " tourism development in the region must be done in a way micro vbefore being done at the macro level [...]"
